Humility is a good thing, but many of the women I work with are TOO humble. These AMAZING women just don’t know how amazing they truly are.
When I work with them on their resumes or LinkedIn profiles, I find out about several spectacular accomplishments that they don’t mention anywhere.
Why don’t they mention them?
They didn’t think they were worth mentioning.
Excuse me. WHAT THE WHAT?!!
Listen.
Not touting your experience and accomplishments is basically the same as leaving a pile of cash on the table.
The business world is the very place you want to showcase your achievements to the world.
So the next time you look at your LinkedIn profile or update your resume, don’t whisper into the forget-me-box.
Bring out the megaphone.
Celebrating your success is important for many reasons.
Recognizing and acknowledging your own accomplishments boosts your self-confidence, helps you set new goals, and paves the way for greater success in your career.
So here are three great ways that you can start celebrating your career success in a way that will lead to greater success in the future!
One of the first steps in celebrating your success is to take stock of what you’ve already achieved. This can be anything from a big project you completed at work to a personal goal you set for yourself.
Action Step: Make a list of at least 50 accomplishments—yes, 50! Take some time to reflect on what you’ve accomplished and how that has shaped you and your career for the better. It doesn’t matter how big or small the accomplishments are. List them ALL!
Once you’ve identified your accomplishments, it’s important to share them now with others. This can include sharing your successes with your team at work or sharing your personal achievements with friends and family. Amplifying your accomplishments can help you gain recognition and respect from others, and can even serve as an inspiration to women like you!
Action Step: Share your favorite success story with one other person you trust. Take a look at your resume and LinkedIn profile and see which successes from your list can be added to show your career success and experiences.
Celebrating your success isn’t just about feeling good about yourself, it’s also about using your accomplishments to further your career dreams. Changing careers can feel intimidating, but many of the skills and accomplishments you’ve achieved can probably help you along the path to your dream job!
Action Step: Go through your achievements list, resume, and LinkedIn profile one more time and think, not about the career you have, but about the career you want to have.
What are some skills you’ve acquired or things you’ve accomplished that transfer over to your ideal career?
Think about how your success can be used to demonstrate your skills and expertise and use them as evidence when applying for new opportunities.
Start an action plan for how you can put some of these skills to use.
…I am always here for you. Celebrating your success is an important step in achieving your goals and advancing your career. By identifying your accomplishments, amplifying them, and directing them toward your career, you can build your confidence and set yourself up for greater success in the future.
